Win9x/ME/NT/2K Netscape Setup Help

NorthNet is not responsible for any problems or damage resulting from the use of these instructions.

The following instructions are based on the NorthNet provided
NorthNet Dial-Up & Utilities CD-ROM version 1.9.5

You MAY NEED THE WINDOWS CD-ROM that was used to initially setup your system. Depending on what software is already installed on your system, there may be additional software that Windows has to copy from the Windows CD-ROM.

You may also need to know the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.

Installation

  • Insert the provided CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive and the User Contract window should appear.  Click Next to begin the installation.  If this window does not appear:

    • From the Desktop, select Start and then Run.
    • In the Run field, enter X:northnet (where X is the letter of your CD-ROM drive ).

For example, if your CD-ROM drive is the D drive you would
               enter:
d:northnet

    • Now, click the OK button.

  • Please read the User Contract and, click Continue to continue.
  • At the next window, please enter your User Name as specified on your sign-up sheet. A User Name must be entered IN ALL LOWER CASE. Before entering your User Name, please verify that your Caps Lock key is not on. After you have entered your User Name, click Next to continue.
  • At the next window, please enter your Password as specified on your sign-up sheet. A Password is usually entered IN ALL LOWER CASE. Before entering your Password, please verify that your Caps Lock key is not on.  After you have entered your Password, please re-enter it in the second Password field (this is to confirm the Password is entered correctly).  Click Next to continue.
  • A the next window, enter your real name (i.e. John Smith). Click Next to continue.
  • At the next window, enter an organization name if applicable (not needed in most cases). Click Next to continue.
  • You should now be at the window to select the appropriate NorthNet dial-up number.  Select a telephone number that is a local call from your location. After selecting the number, click Next to continue.

  • The installation program will now make the necessary additions to your computer system to connect to NorthNet.
